THE NEEDLE FROZE at the right side of the speedometer despite the twisting, narrow backwoods roads. Leaves and gravel sprayed the sky as the Batmobile drove past. Batman focused on his driving while Robin gazed at the birds on the far horizon and sang, “One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small…”
He interrupted his song to turn to Batman, who veered from the narrow road to avoid a fawn. “Why do you think birds fly in V formation, B? Do you think birds in flight inspired the arrowhead? It’s a V too, you know. Think about it. Birds fly through the air. Arrows fly through the air. Both come down eventually. What’s the connection, do you think?”
Batman triggered the cave entrance release and sped into the dark tunnel leading through the smaller caverns to the Bat Cave. He steered a hard right, bringing the Batmobile parallel to the wall and pointed toward the exit for a fast escape the next time the Bat Signal lighted the night sky.
